Privacy policy

This policy explains how Techgen LLC Pty Ltd (ACN 696 942 391), trading as Personal Car Loans ("we", "us", "our") handles personal information when you use this website or contact us. We manage personal information in line with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles.

What this website collects

This website has no enquiry form. The car budget planner and the loan quiz run in your browser: the figures you type in are not sent to us or stored by us.

We collect limited information about how the website is used, such as the pages visited, the page you arrived on, the website that referred you and the button you clicked, through analytics tools and browser storage. This helps us understand which information is useful.

If you call us, we may collect your name, contact details and the details of your question so we can help you.

When you start an application

The apply buttons on this site take you to our secure application partner's website. Information you enter there is collected by that partner and handled under its own privacy policy and credit reporting policy, which you'll be shown before you submit anything. The link tells the partner that you came from personalcarloans.com.au and which page you clicked from, but doesn't pass on any figures you entered in our tools.

How we use information

  • to answer your questions when you contact us;
  • to run, secure and improve this website and its guides and tools;
  • to understand which pages and tools help people most; and
  • to comply with our legal obligations.

Who we share it with

We may share information with our IT, hosting and analytics providers, our secure application partner (where you've chosen to apply or asked us to pass on your details), professional advisers, and government bodies or regulators where the law requires it. Some providers may store data outside Australia; where that happens we take reasonable steps to make sure your information is protected.

Security and retention

We take reasonable steps to protect personal information from misuse, interference, loss and unauthorised access, change or disclosure. When we no longer need information for any lawful purpose, we take reasonable steps to destroy or de-identify it.

Access, correction and complaints

You can ask to see or correct the personal information we hold about you. To make a request or a privacy complaint, call us on 03 9072 0200 or write to us at Level 27, 101 Collins Street, Melbourne VIC 3000, marked "Privacy request", and we'll respond within a reasonable time. If you're not satisfied with our response, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.

Cookies and analytics

This website uses cookies, browser storage and analytics tools to understand how visitors use it. Advertising storage is switched off. You can block cookies in your browser settings and the site will still work.
